I will be travelling to Medellin in a month's time and wanted some advice on where to go to experience some of the colombia's finest. If you are looking at places like the Mansion, chances are you will be staying in the part of the city called El Poblado. The neighborhood is one of the safest in Medellin , and also has some of the best bars and clubs.
Be sure to check out the places on Calle 10, and around Parque Lleras. Mangos is always mentioned as one of the top, but there are so many within walking distance that you can just explore all night. I am traveling to Medellin with a fiend tomorrow from Ecuador. I have lived in Ecuador for over 12 years. Would love to get any advise that you could give us. I would not try to find a bar in the central town.
This is the nicest and safest area of town. Contact the guys from www. Some of the english speaking taxi drivers are a great source of info. The Medellin Hostels are a fun place to hang out and meet friends but i find that you cant really sleep there, so staying a few days there is always fun, and then getting a medellin apartment rental afterwards can really help you share ideas with other travelers and learn about the area.
For general information about Medellin , I found this site complete and in many ways non-sectarian. It has some info about the whole country as well. Fase II is wonderful I believe the owner of this club also owns San Diego--not nearly as nice an establishment as Fase II but you can find a nice gal or two,.. Cartagena does have a nightlife, but there is no section with a concentration of bars and clubs; in other words, to go bar hopping it is very possible you will have to walk minutes to get to the next place or take a short taxi ride Medellin has a great collection and concentration of bars and restaurants in one area-- Parque Lleras True, you can find a condo but YMMV in terms of the upkeep of the units and rental agents for these condos want all the money as soon as you check in Go with Medellin--even in Cartagena, everybody said the best looking women in the country come from there with all due respect to Cali and Pereira.
