A few weeks ago, I wrote about how I decided to stay in Buenos Aires for two months instead of going to Florianopolis, Brazil for March. I ended up with the best of both worlds; I called BA home for another month and spent a week visiting the group in Florianopolis Floripa.
I landed on the Brazilian island at 5am so by the time I made it through immigration and grabbed an Uber, one of the most spectacular sunrises greeted me. The reds were so vibrant I felt like I was looking at a photoshopped image.
As we wove through the small roads to get to Praia Mole, the beach where my friends were living, fog set in but when we emerged the sky was still glowing red behind some beautiful beach cliffs. Pretty sure I half dozed until a bump brought me back briefly to the sunrise; then, the eyes closed again.
Sounds like me, completely. My friends had an actual house complete with a sauna, pool and jacuzzi. There was a giant sword over the fireplace, artistic bottles lining the top shelf in the kitchen and an old red bicycle hanging above the dining room table. These eclectic elements were quite welcoming after a few months of living in sterilized, cookie-cutter apartments with no personality. I forgot how nice it was to work from a real home. We were all spread out around the living and dining rooms, typing away or on calls, but the ambiance was very refreshing.
It was a lot quieter than the workspace, but had just the right amount of social interaction that made the day fly by. Right across the street from the house is Praia Mole beach, which has probably the fluffiest, softest sand my feet have ever touched.
